Nordic Libraries Annual is an annual conference looking at topical issues in public libraries and library development. This year conference will be organized online on 3-4.11.2021, and focus is on libraries and democracy.
According to many Nordic library policies, the task of libraries is to ensure citizens’ equal access to knowledge, education, culture, and new citizenship skills. The work carried out by libraries should support inclusiveness, community, and opportunities for making an impact, to strengthen social cohesion and the readiness of citizens to assume social responsibility.
Through these actions, libraries support citizenship, which in turn enables participation in democratic processes. We wish to see Libraries Creating Strong Societies, which is also our theme for 2021.
The conference is organized by the Regional State Administrative Agencies in Finland in cooperation with Library Channel (Kirjastokaista) financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Finland. Library Channel (Kirjastokaista) has co-operated many years with the Regional State Administrative Agencies in Finland (AVI). So, we also take care of livestream this year. You are welcome to join in!
