Live-stream recording from a two-day “Koha seminar” in Joensuu, Finland on May 21-22, 2015. This live streaming video includes a presentation “Koha, Story and History” by Keynote speaker Paul Poulain.
The first version of Koha has been released in 2000, on January 1st. What was a small ILS, written in 3 months by a tiny team, for a small public library is now a widely adopted ILS, used in all types of libraries, from the smallest to the largest, academic or public, isolated or consortium.
Paul Poulain, one of the first contributor to Koha, former Release Manager of versions 2.0, 2.2, 3.8 and 3.10, will relate the history of the project. Moreover, he will explain how this project has grown, how an informal worldwide team can coordinate it’s effort all around the world to release a new version every 6 months, and a bugfix version every month. He will also answer some key question you must ask yourself when you’re considering adopting an Open Source software.
