Libraries are for sure important places. In fact, they can contribute to creating a stronger society. By providing information and related services, they may actually even help individuals in rising up from the poverty. Libraries for Development is a cooperation project between Tanzania Library Services Board, Namibia Library and Archives Service and the Finnish Library Association. The project emphasizes the role of libraries in development by bringing the services of the information society to the grassroots level. Edward Fungo is one of the project librarians, working as regional librarian in Morogoro area in Tanzania. Through his innovative working methods he has earned himself a title of “Street Librarian”. Here’s how he is putting the project principles into practice.
